During his Budget Speech in February 2018, the then Minister of Finance, Mr Malusi Gigaba, announced that the rate of the value-added tax (VAT) would increase from 14% to 15% effective 1 April 2018. As a result, on 23 March 2018, the South African Pharmacy Council published a Board Notice entitled “Fees payable to the Council under the Pharmacy Act, 53 of 1974, following adjustment in Value Added Tax (VAT)”.

The new fees, as per this link, only apply to invoices dated or raised by Council on or after 1 April 2018.
