Changes to the 2015 pre-registration examination
Council has made a few changes to the pre-registration examination following an analysis of the previous examination results. These changes affect interns who will be writing Paper 2, and are effective from 23 July 2015. The changes will also affect those interns writing Paper 2 for the second or third time, etc.
Paper 2 of the pre-registration examination will have 50 multiple choice questions as opposed to the 60 questions in the March 2012 to March 2015 papers. Council will compile three sets of Paper 2, to cover the community, institutional (hospital) and manufacturing sectors. Each paper will comprise 35 general questions (the same questions will appear in each of the three papers), and 15 sector specific questions.
In addition, interns will be required to indicate which paper they will be writing when they book for the examination.
Table 1: Different types of Paper 2 examinations to be compiled, effective from 23 July 2015. Each paper will contain the same 35 general questions, followed by 15 sector specific questions.
As discussed during the intern workshops, only interns who have submitted four CPD entries will be able to book to write the examination. Interns who do not book to write the examination will not be allowed to write.
Pre-registration examination workshops will be conducted in June/July 2015 to ensure that all interns are prepared for the changes.
