Appointments, promotions and resignations

Council regrettably bade farewell to fellow colleagues Vuyo Mokoena and Thabo Litabe and wishes them well in their new careers. Council is pleased to introduce its new appointees and extends them a warm welcome.

Clement Manenzhe
Senior Manager: Information Technology

He joined the South African Pharmacy Council in November 2016 as the Senior Manager responsible for Information Technology. His IT career spans over 11 years during which time he gained operational and managerial experience in both in-house and outsourced technological settings. He has a wealth of skills accumulated from his involvement with local government and healthcare insurance industries.

Mr Manenzhe’s holds a bachelors degree in information systems and is pursuing a BSc (Hons) Computing. He has attended several short courses, including ITIL V3 Foundation, Management Programme and other industry-related programmes that have fortified his operational and governance skills.

Mr Manenzhe’s role is to implement and maintain robust information technology systems and processes to achieve Council’s objectives and strategies. He is supported by three junior staff members.

Mojo Mokoena
Senior Manager: Professional Affairs (Practice)

Mojo Mokoena was appointed as a Senior Manager: Professional Affairs (Practice) on 1 October 2016. Mojo joined the SAPC in 2009 as Manager CPD and Practice and in 2010 was appointed as Senior Manager: Professional Affairs (CPD, Preregistration and Registrations). She has a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of the North (now the University of Limpopo) and holds two postgraduate qualifications, an MSC (Med) from Medunsa and a Masters of Business Leadership from the UNISA School of Business Leadership.

Prior to her appointment at the SAPC, Mojo served as Acting Deputy Director: Policy and Planning for the South African Military Health Services (HQ), and worked for the United Nations (peacekeeping mission in Bujumbura) and the South African National Defence Force (1 Military Hospital). She also has experience as a locum pharmacist from a number of independent and corporate pharmacies.

Mojo is a registered assessor, an ad hoc external examiner for Sefako Makgatho University (SMU), and has completed numerous courses in management, employee relations, leadership and finance. Mojo believes “people don’t grow by accident, they grow by design, therefore we need to focus our energy and time in designing our destiny, as success and personal fulfilment never just happen.”

Avril Lewis
Senior Manager: Professional Affairs (CPD and Registrations)

Avril Lewis joined the SAPC on 3 September 2012 as Manager: Professional Affairs (Education) and was recently appointed to the position of Senior Manager: Professional Affairs (CPD and Registrations).

Avril was, prior to being appointed by the Council, a Responsible Pharmacist at Tshwane Rehabilitation Hospital. She holds a B. Pharm degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), Honours in Pharmacology from WITS a Post-Graduate Diploma in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town and a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Pretoria.

Avril worked mostly in managed healthcare organisations in different roles such as drug utilisation review, clinical advisor, team leader and manager “I am honoured to be working for the SAPC and serving the profession, says Avril.
