Appointments, promotions and resignations
It gives the South African Pharmacy Council great joy to introduce and welcome a cohort of gifted newly appointed staff members within the Professional Affairs, Information Technology, Finance and Communication & Stakeholder Relations departments. It is hoped that their presence will add value to the services we provide to the profession and the public.

Madimetja Mashishi
Manager: Communication and Media
Madimetja is an accomplished communicator who joins the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) after gathering more than seven years of post-graduation experience in various communication and media roles. Before joining the SAPC he was Assistant Director: Media Relations at South Africa’s official statistical agency, Statistics South Africa.
Madimetja is a mild perfectionist who shares Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s view that “if a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of Heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well”. Madimetja holds a BA majoring in Media and Communication Studies from the University of Limpopo, and a Higher Certificate in Management from Southern Business School.

Nsovo Mayimele
Manager: Professional Affairs (Practice)
Nsovo Mayimele served as a community service pharmacist at Thabazimbi Hospital prior to leaving South Africa for the United Kingdom. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, Master of Pharmacy (Public Health and Management) from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, as well as a Master of Science in International Development (Governance and Statebuilding) from the University of Birmingham. She is a fellow of the Women Deliver Young Leaders Programme and has championed issues affecting public health practitioners and the advancement of South African youths having served as President of the Junior Public Health Association of South Africa (JuPHASA) and Social Development Officer of the International Youth Council South Africa (IYCSA), amongst others. Nsovo has won numerous local and international awards for her work in the healthcare industry, including being named as one of the 2016 Mail & Guardian Influential Young South Africans. She looks forward to serving the pharmacy profession and South African public with passion, commitment and enthusiasm.

Finance Controller (Debtors)
Lerato Sambo is the newly appointed Finance Controller: Debtors. She joined the SAPC on 1 August 2017. She is responsible for Debt Collection Control, Accounts Control and supervision within the Finance Department. Prior to her appointment at the SAPC, Lerato was a Financial Accountant at Kunene HealthCare. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from the University of South Africa (UNISA). “I will uphold the vision, mission and core values of the Council and make an effective contribution to the profession,” says Lerato.

IT Assistant
Thabo Matsetela is a Microsoft Certified Professional. He joined the SAPC as an IT Assistant in a temporary capacity on 3 March 2017 and was subsequently permanently appointed to the role on 11 September 2017. Thabo holds various Microsoft professional certifications, including Microsoft Certified Solutions Expect (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Thabo worked as an IT Support Technician at PC Tech and Inspire Technologies. “I hope to bring my passion for technology, a can-do attitude and in-depth technical knowledge to the SAPC. I believe in doing what you love and loving what you do,” says Thabo.

Turtia Senamela
Finance Accounts Office
Turtia Senamela is the newly appointed Finance Accounts Officer. She joined the Council in June 2017. Turtia is responsible for maintenance of customer accounts, as well as evaluation and reconciliation of debtors aged analysis reports. She is also charged with the evaluation of credit card authorisation forms and processing of payments on bank speed point machines, and responding to enquiries regarding areas of responsibility in a way that enhances and promotes the image of the SAPC. Before joining the SAPC, she worked as a Trainee Auditor at Auditor-General South Africa. Turtia Senamela says: “It is an honour for me to work at the South African Pharmacy Council and I hope to make an impactful contribution to this organisation”.
